Marvel Mighty Heroes for Android is a new game which features some of Marvel’s famous characters. If you’ve seen recent Marvel movies than you’ll be familiar with most of the game’s cast. Though there’s a few characters which are going to be more of a treat to comic book fans. But whichever type of fan you are, there’s going to be something for you. In many ways the game is a love letter to fans of everything related to the Marvel franchise.
The game makes it easy for you to get started. When you begin, it’ll offer up a little tutorial level. This should get you accustomed to the general concept of the game. You should get a hang of the game fairly quickly even without a tutorial though. It has a fairly simple design that’s easy to get accustomed to. During the game you control a small team of Marvel characters. Marvel Mighty Heroes features an extensive cast of characters to choose from. It’s clearly placing some emphasis on the Marvel Cinematic Universe when it comes to the character selection. Most of the characters in the game can be seen in Avengers or Guardians of the Galaxy. Though there are some, such as the Punisher, who come straight from the comics. There’s also a lot of unexpected faces who might surprise persistent players who want to get every possible choice.
It quickly becomes clear that characters are one of the most entertaining aspects of the game. Forming the perfect party of characters is one of the game’s biggest selling points. It’s basically giving you a chance to put together a dream team from all of the Marvel movies. However, it’s not always easy to do so. The game allows you to find a random free character every twenty-four hours. This might unlock a new character, and you’ll almost always be hoping for that outcome. If it does select a character you already own, than you’ll instead receive a minor power-up to him or her. These increases are usually fairly small. But it can still be enough of a nudge to give a character new abilities.
When you’ve formed a party, it’s time to venture off into the game itself. It basically becomes an action packed adventure. Whether you choose to be Captain America swinging his shield, the Hulk punching his way through Kree warriors, or other characters, it’ll offer a fun challenge.
When it comes to features, there’s a lot of good things to say about the game. Of course the best aspect is the wide selection of characters. You’re sure to find your favorites within the game. The ease of play is also highly commendable. It takes some hints from earlier Marvel games and refines them into something totally intuitive. Anyone can simply pick it up and instantly start having fun. Another feature that you’ll quickly learn to appreciate is the collectable characters. It can feel a bit frustrating at first when you’re trying to build a party. You want the best characters, after all. But it quickly becomes apparent that the delayed gratification is part of the fun. You have to work for the characters, and that makes it amazingly gratifying when you get them. That’s why it gets an 8/10. There’s still room for growth and refinement, but in general it’s close to being perfect.
The main limiting factor right now is the difficulty. It tries to please all ages, and in doing so it makes a game that can be a bit too easy at times. But at the same time, there’s something to be said for a game when that’s the only real complaint. If it feels too short, that means it’s left you wanting more. And even if some stages can be short, that’s part of the game’s beauty. It makes you want to live in that world, and experience more with the characters.
